our wedding

Will and I got married in November and it was the happiest day of our lives! These beautiful preview photos from our amazing photographer Gabbie Burseth seamlessly blend her film and digital shots to capture the joy of our wedding day just as we remember it.
My best friend and maid of honor, Catie Stewart, is an event planner and I’m so grateful for all the time, energy, and effort she put into planning the day with us.
Planning an event for 200 people can be stressful. I’ve never felt that level of attention and emotion before. But we planned well and felt everything went smoothly on the wedding day!
Will and I got to go with the flow, be present as the bride and groom, and enjoy the day with our guests. Plus, we also had planning help from our moms, family, friends, and wonderful vendors too. All the details are listed below!

I will cherish these memories and photos forever. We are so grateful for all our event staff, family and friends who made our wedding day possible! We highly recommend all our vendors, who are listed below.
Will and I are so lucky to have such support and love from both our families. I love looking at my parents’ wedding photos and talking to them about their relationship. They were married for 31 years before my dad passed.
For all my outfit details, I was lucky enough to wear family heirlooms from both sides, vintage pieces, and special things made by small makers. What a blessing to adorn myself in living history on our wedding day.
My emerald engagement ring was given to Will by his mom. It’s the ring his dad saved up for and proposed with. His mom wore it for many years before getting a new ring as a gift. It felt meant to be because my birthday is in May, I love my emerald birthstone, and I wanted a unique ring that wasn’t just a diamond.
My light blue sapphire earrings, garnet ring, pearl bracelet, and other pieces I wore throughout the weekend were all hand-me-downs from my mom and her family.
I found a vintage gold heart-shaped locket with floral engraving details on Etsy because I knew I wanted one to hold a photo of my dad, who passed away last year, and my Grandpa Charlie who passed over a decade ago but is still a strong beloved presence in our family.
Finding my wedding dress at The Sentimentalist was the easiest and most lovely process. I only brought my best friend Catie with me because she knows me so well and I wanted to pick something just for myself, that I felt beautiful and comfortable in.
I tried on five dresses total and the Carol Hannah wedding gown I found was a dream come true. I worked with Hannah from The Sentimentalist team to customize the initial sample dress I tried on. We updated the fabric from crepe to satin to add the extra subtle shimmer, and changed the neckline from round to square for a slightly more formal touch.
It felt like the perfect blend of modern comfort, timeless classic style, and some nods to the historic fashion from all the period pieces I love. I have always envisioned a blue velvet sash and bow on my dress so I found this one on Etsy, and my amazing tailor Colleen at White Orchid Bridal attached it to the dress and created a streamlined bustle with my train for dancing during our reception.
One of the best parts of the wedding planning process was Will’s idea to secretly take dance lessons! We worked with M&M Ballroom Academy to learn lots of basic dance styles and moves, and get really comfortable with our fun first dance to “You’re All I Need to Get By” by Marvin Gaye and Tami Terrell.
While wedding planning was mentally tough at times, after just losing my dad, starting a new job, and juggling everything that goes into such a big event… I feel so lucky to have Will and our friends and families. I am so grateful for the ability to celebrate our love with the most beautiful day. Despite all the ups and downs of planning it all, I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and it really was my favorite day. I will hold this moment in my heart and cherish it forever. I love you Will. ♡
